December 19, 2018. Recently, I finished quilting my last two UFO’s! When we moved in 2015, I decided to stop quilting for customers and work on my own stack of unquilted tops. One of the last is a wall hanging that I made from scraps to test a piecing pattern. Even though I wasn’t crazy about the results, I still wanted to create a custom design for the small composition. I reworked the Tanzania Block and divided it to create a Tanzania Half Block, a Tanzania Quarter Block and a Tanzania Small Block. A Palm Triangle was created for the pinwheel blades. All the new and reworked patterns along with the new Cairo Set, which includes the Malawi Border and Corner, are now available at Lily Street Patterns. As always, all patterns in sets are 50% off their regular price.
Finally, my last unquilted top was made by my mom 40 years ago. At that time, I was a clueless quilter but managed to attach the top to some batting and backing and make something that was well loved and used for years. Eventually, the muslin backing was worn out but the top was still in pretty good shape. So, after removing all the old quilting, I created the ButterflyFlutterE2E pattern and quilted it again. Now, it’s ready to be loved and used for many more years.
